Gangster Glam..

I think i'm going to try and bring back the "Gangster Glam" look brought on by Tony Mosley former rapper of the 91 version of the NPG. Pink suits and glitter in my hair. Pink gators with no socks. Just walk around saying "Boy we ready to get funky on a sack of grand daddies!"

Do clubs with dancefloors still play like the couples only song sometime during the night? I remember back in high school going to Gators in maple grove for teen night and they'd always play a couple slow songs for couples. There was one time we went and I remember I danced with two different girls during the both of the slow jams. Maybe sometime soon i'll be at a place like brothers and they'll stop the top 40 randb crap and throw on Spandau Ballet's "True". That would be the stuff right there. God I wish I was 17 again.

GOLD..

Back in the studio?

Smoke on your wings?

Rebirth of The Flesh...

Some random notes...

Tried to go to bed at 11pm last night and for some reason I couldn't sleep so I layed in my bed untill 6:30am watching hellavision untill I fell asleep. Watched some interesting stuff in that time. Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Family Guy, Good Morning Vietnam, Deliverance, and a nasty video show on BET called "Uncut" where they show uncensored videos. frigging dirty!

Well tonight is Cody's throwdown and it should be hoppin'. I think i'm going to take it easy since we all gotta be at the farm at 8am even though the crew cheifs will be at the jam. Maybe we should all just pull a no show.

Forgot to mention I hung out with Graham Johnson at the Time show. First time in like months. Hopefully it won't be that long again.

I must say that I am enjoying reading the Natrix. The posts on there are entertaining and hillarious.

I went to a weird website yesterday called "your death clock". It has you enter all this information like your weight, height, body mass index, birthdate, are you a smoker, etc. and it gives you the exact date in which your going to die. It told me I was going to die on March 31st 2044. The sites kind of creepy. Then on the screen where it tells you your death date, it has a countdown that ticks of how many seconds you have left in your life.

Sounds like we almost have a dodgeball team together!

Allright, God knows i'm a straight man but I am becomming a fan of a singer named Gavin Degraw and his song "I don't wanna be". I checked out his cd at best buy and almost bought it. On the cd it says he's the new Van Morrison. I'll have to hear more before I buy.

Love Touch

For some reason tonight I have that stupid 80's song called "love touch" in my head. You know, the one that goes "I wanna give you my love touch love touch." Don't know who sings it but it's driving me mad. Maybe the dj inside my head is spinning it to anticipate the throwdown at Cody's tommorow. Slammin!

Man that new parking lot's going to be pretty sweet..

Well last night was quite an adventure. Went to Ribfest with my crew. Got there an hour early before the show and saw that beers were 7 bucks a piece!! Me and Hill decided to hit up the nearest bar we could find which turned out to be City Billiards. What a frigging dive. Beers were only 3 bucks there though. Saw an amazing performance by The Time. Morris and Jerome antics are sometimes more entertaining then the concert. One of my favorite parts was when they pulled a bunch of ladies on stage to dance to "If the kid can't make you come" which lasted quite a while. After the song was over, Jerome said "Wow that was one of the longest versions we ever did of that song..must been like 15 minutes.well ladies your 15 minutes of fame are up now get your a*ses off the stage." Afterwards we hit up a bar and hung out. Stepped to the dancefloor at about 11:40pm and when I returned to our table everyone was gone. Just when I thought I was stuck downtown for the night I ran into an old co-worker who was nice enough to give me and a friend a ride home. I had a dream that I was on Saved by The Bell and we were all pumped up about a parking lot Bayside was building and screech said "man that parking lot's going to be pretty sweet." Hence the title of this post. weird.

the next big thing..

Well got home from work this morning, cooked up some ramen noodles (creamy chicken of course) and turned on some Sportscenter. I got pumped because Inside the Huddle with John Clayton came on and since i'm excited for football season to start, I was glued to the hellavision. After showing a few players who got cut, signed, etc. They show a picture of Brock frigging Lesner standing on the wrestling ropes and they announce that the Vikings signed him to a developmental contract. God what a story this will be if he makes the team. I just got a kick out of the fact that for the other players they showed football highlights and for him they showed him suplexing and bodyslamming people.

Heard the new Nikka Costa single "I Don't Think We've Met" for free on her website www.nikkacosta.com and all I can say is DAMN! I remember the first time I heard "Like a Feather" and the new song gives me that same fonkey feeling inside. The song gives me the same vibe as most of my favorite Prince songs do. I think my favorite Prince songs are when he sounds messed up and you don't know what he's talking about like on "Strange But True", "Love or Money", and "Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic". On Rave Un2, it almost sounds like Prince sang it when he had a cold or something. Nikka kinda sounds this way on this tune and it makes for a damn nice groove.

My Puerto Rican friend at my work told me how to say "Gay" in spanish.

And I leave you with this...

Over this time, I've learned that my life force has increased by knowing you. Every door that closes, another one opens, strange but true.

Whatever you do DONT QUIT!

Yo Yo...Got home from work today and i'm in a interesting mood. God I hate paying bills. Had to pay a couple yesterday that put a dent on my good time funds, but the mf'n TIME is playing at ribfest tommorow and it sounds like we may be showing up with an army of true funk soldiers. This will be my 6th time seeing them and even though the setlist has been the same the other 5 times, it still is one of the greatest shows on earth.

My roomate Jewett through a bunch of stuff in a pot and called it another one of his "special" cassaroles. I think I'll have a bite since the last one he made was dope.

My absolute goal for this Thursday is to finally finish up illustrating everyones soon to be favorite board game "STUMBLE!!!". BNatz wants to get the ball rolling in August so after the illustration comes the website with ordering information. I"ll let you all know soon how to order.

Forgot to mention I went to a party with my farm crew last Friday. Pretty fun for the most part. Met two lesbians who told me they were voting for Nader and ran into my roomates younger brother who did impressions of him all night. What is it with people liking this wack computerized radio crap at parties? I heard "Crazy In Love" by Beyonce twice and that other wack song she has and everybody went crazy on the dancefloor! Then me and the farm crew threw on "Ain't No Halfsteppin" by Big Daddy Kane and everybody looked at us like we came from another planet or something. If time machines ever get created, I am taking the delorean to the years 1982-87and the place: Brooklyn New York to kick it at block parties and hear Grandmaster Flash play Run DMC, Spoonie G., Buzy Bee, Kool Moe Dee, Zapp, Parliament, Prince, Slave, Sly, Public Enemy, Universal Robot Band, Big Daddy Kane, Biz Markie, Slick Rick and Doug E. Fresh, James Brown..you get the picture. I'm sick of this stale Kdwb crap.

Song of the day: "Barley Breaking Even" by The Universal Robot Band

Hope to see everybody at The Time show!

Hellavision..

Well just when I thought Comedy Central was the greatest thing ever on television. I discovered Adult Swim on the Cartoon Network. Of course I've become a huge "Family Guy" fan since the farmers turned me onto it, but "Aqua Teen Hunger Force" is one of my new favorites. I can't get enough of it. It's definitely an acquired taste. I watched a couple episodes with Cornelious last night and afterwards he told me that while I was at 450 degrees he was still at 300. Whatever that means I guess.

the everlasting now...

Went to St. Olaf college yesterday with my parents to see my grandparents and have dinner with them. Nice to see them again and they may have a hook up on a graphics job for me. Ate at the student eating center and it brought me back to Garvey commons in St. Clone State and all those unlimited chicken patties I used to scour. Thought about going to Kristys cabin for the evening but a 3 hour drive there and back Saturday afternoon doesn't sound very appealing. Sorry Amber.

Going Frolfing with Cornelius today.

The frigging TIME are playing at Ribfest on Wednesday and it seems everybody has the evening off that night so everybody better be there!

I met my moms boss yesterday for the first time. Me and him have had some heated discussions on politics, religion, music, etc. Lately we've been arguing who is a better musician: Prince or Bob Dylan. You know my pic. Yesterday the first thing out of his mouth was "Oh my buddy Bob Dylan was getting an honorary degree from Cornell well Prince wasn't getting Sh*t." Well maybe thats because Prince has the highest attended tour of the year so far and his album is still in the top 10. Also, nice to see Bob Dylan is playing the Rochester county fair in a couple weeks...yee haw.

Song of the day: "James Brown Ride On" by Orlando Julius and his Afro Sounders.

Foreston

Foreston was a pretty good time, but it made me realize things have got to change.

True art vs. Popcorn music...

One of my favorite artist Nikka Costa posted this on her website about how Virgin records is trying to boycott good music in exchange for popcorn music. Please read and please do me a favor and follow her instructions. Rhiannon, you and I saw her live and you told me she funked up the joint. I know your on top of this!

YOUNT!!!!

Picked up the new Morris Day and The Time album today. All I can say is that it is excellent! The live tracks are great, especially the version of "Fishnet". The new tracks are decent too. I'm really digging "My ride" and "2 Drink Minimum". Nice to see the Time is back.

Went to Nate Hecks last night and kicked it with my farm crew. Good times, good stories.

Countdown is 2 hours to Foreston. I will post pictures as soon as we get back. Well I'm off to have a Primo with Natz.

The Walk...

I got inspired my friend Steve Miller's treck from Brooklyn Center to New Hope on his feet and decided to walk to Target from my house. Not as big of a haul as steves but still pretty big. On my way home this car of 17 year old girls pulled to the side of the road, jumped out of their car and started asking me questions. They said they were in town from Wisconsin and their dad tried to call the hotel to get them a room but the hotel wouldn't let him book a room over the phone. So they asked if I'd get them the room and they'd give me a ride to the hotel, some cash and a ride home if I did. I said heck no and quickly made my exit.

Stopped by my work on the walk and found out the farm crew is going to go camping at Apple River since their Foreston tickets got cancelled. Hope they have a great time.

Rebirth of cool.....

I am creating what I believe to be a fantastic mix cd today. I will spin it all day today and tommorow to get me amped for the Foreston trip. So far songs include...

"Tricky" - The Time (a b-side)
"Make Me Smile"- Cooley's Hot Box
"Alright" - Jamiriquai
"Dirty Dirty" - Beck
"Love Song #3" - Meshell N'Degeocello
"In Hale" - Hydrophonic Groove Sessions
"13" -Madhouse

Still looking for more additions, but this is what I have so far.

Lots of pizza, good times, and sad news...

City pizza bash was pretty fun. Me, Miller and Cody went. Filled our grills with pizza and kicked it with our boss at a picnic table. After the pizza bash we walked around palmer lake since it was pretty nice out.

Sad news on the Foreston tip. Everybody but me and the roomates are banned due to uncomfortableness of Ando's relatives. So I have to make some calls I don't really want to make tonight.

I think I might go for a run and a swim tommorow if it's nice and hot again. Should be a fun relaxing day.

Karma...

Bush gave a big speech last week about how his faith
is so important to him. In this attempt to convince
the American people that we should consider him for
president, he announced that his favorite Bible verse
is John 16:3.

Of course, the speech writer meant John 3:16, but
nobody in the Bush camp was familiar enough with
Scripture to catch the error.

John 16:3 says; "And they will do this because they
have not known the Father nor Me."

City pizza jam

Well since I work for the city of Brooklyn Center, I am invited to the employee appreciation pizza bash at City Hall. Should be a good time, and the best part is that it's free! I think I might ride my bike.

In other news, Prince has put another new bside up for download on his site called "Silver Toungue". The weird part about it is that it is co-written with another favorite artist of mine named Nikka Costa. www.npgmusicclub.com/musicology to check it out.

boycott moore

After being a huge Nader supporter for the last couple elections, Michael Moore has climbed into his new hollywood friend's arses and decided to support Kerry and tell all Nader voters to vote for Kerry. The same Michael Moore who bashed Kerry in the last election for being the strongest supporter to not let Nader debate. You can read the full article at www.votenader.org. Nader even wrote him an open letter and Hollywood Michael never responded. I am urging everyone not to see Fareinheit 911 especially after the article in the the Minneapolis Star Tribune last Sunday where the Minnesota politician Moore interviews in his movie about signing up his children for the war got Moores film company to print the entire interview he had with them. In the movie he cuts out almost the entire interview to make the politician look like a fool, but in the actual interview that never made it in the movie, the politician talks with Moore and says he voted against the war and agreed with him. Moores a facist manipulater. If you want to buy a DVD copy of the awful truth season one, give me a ring cuz mine is for sale. In the words of my friend Johanna, I'm so through with him.

The Daisy Chain...

Kerry/Edwards + Bush/Cheaney = Same soul with a different name.

www.votenader.org

you know voting for kerry is like voting for bush. so vote NADER!

Album of the week...

I have been listening to the new Chris Robinson record non stop today. I don't think there is another rock singer with as much soul in their voice as Chris Robinson. I have probably played his song "If you see California" probably 10 times today. This song for some reason gives me a reminisce type of vibe like "pink cashmere" by Prince or "hopeless" by Dione Farris or of course "T.R.O.Y." by Pete Rock and C.L. Smooth. I recommend this album to anyone who is a fan of real rock n' roll.

Also, even though I think it's kind of weird to celebrate birthdays now. (we only have one birthday in life) I'd like to give a happy anniversary of your birthday to my roomate and brother from another mother Jeff Jewett. I'm sure we will throw on some funky records and drink a cocktail or two tonight.

Back to the Rocking Horse

Got some motivation on the first day of my 3 days off from work and did some job searching. One might not count, but I applied for a management position at my recent job. No not the farm, the other one. I had to get reccomended by my boss to apply and surprisingly I did! That job would be great and I'd probably get every other weekend off and I might actually work during the day. The other job I have to call at 8 am this morning to find out if they're still hiring but it's for a Office and Marketing Associate at a graphics place. I meet almost all the requirements and they want someone who's worked in the graphics industry and the best part is they are open during the day with weekends off! Just the place i'm looking for. Foreston fun days is a week from Friday and it will be the best time ever I am betting. We have a large crew going up this year and the street dance isn't going to know what hit it. Can't wait to drink beers again at 8am with the mayor and Ando's pops. No word on if my dad will make the trip even though everyone keeps asking me. In weird news, I went to okayplayer.com to read music news and someone posted a video of Glen Danzig getting knocked out by a big bald dood. I don't know what i'm going to do with my 3 days off. One day might involve shaving my head. The last time I did that was in November but it's summer now and it might feel good. We'll see.

Valleyfarm and a big morning

Valleyfair was fantastic. I forgot how frigging fun that place is. Went on everything and had a great time. Afterwards, me and cody had a beer with our boss. Kind of awkward kind of fun. Got home and a minature pool party was going on. Got tired of it and me and April hit a farm party and jumped on a trampoline. Good times. Saw the movie "Napoleon Dynamite" at the Lagoon with Peet and Cody. I can easily say that it is somewhere in my top 5 funniest movies of all time. I want to see it again. Got home from work this morning and saw my roomate Jeff standing in the doorway with the largest tattoo ever on his forearm!! Turns out he went to the bar and got quite tipsy and his friend came up with the idea to go get tattoos. I couldn't believe my eyes. Makes me want to go get another one right now. Can't believe I have to work tonight while everyone is sitting in lawn chairs, eating barbecue, and drinking mad beers. Oh well, at least it's time and a half pay and they're ordering us pizza. It just might be degrassi. And oh yeah, Prince put up a virtual b-side for his new single for download on his site...www.npgmusicclub.com/musicology if your interested in downloading. The track is called "the United States of Division" Gotta say I was kind of iffy because of the title but this track is actually pretty damn funky. The new NPG is quite good thanks to the drumming of John Blackwell. Thats all for now.

Return of the Mack

After a two year absensce, I am making my return to Valleyfair tommorow with my crew from the farm. I will be riding the wild thing like no other and hopefully we can get one farmer over his fear of roller coasters.
